Very Reverend David A. Boettner, V.G., Rector

Fr. David Boettner is the Rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral and was ordained in May 1994. He also serves as the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia at the Diocese of Knoxville. He has served as Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Chattanooga, Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Pastor of St. Mary Church in Athens, and as Pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle in Lenoir City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Meinrad and a Master of Divinity degree from St. Mary of the Lake. dboettner@shcknox.org

Reverend Joe Reed, Associate Pastor and School Chaplain

Fr. Joe is a native of Knoxville and grew up in Sacred Heart parish. While in seminary he entered Conception Abbey, where he was a Benedictine brother for ten years before being ordained to the priesthood. Fr. Joe taught in the seminary college, offered spiritual direction, and assisted with Newman Center ministry. He is also the Director of Vocations at the Diocese of Knoxville assisting the bishop in fostering the formation of men who are preparing for the priesthood. jreed@shcknox.org

Reverend Arthur Torres, Associate Pastor

Fr. Arthur was born in Cali, Colombia and holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Sacred Heart School of Theology in Wisconsin. Fr. Arthur’s diaconate ordination was at St. Mary’s in Johnson City in December of 2012, and he was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Knoxville on December 14, 2013. Fr. Arthur works closely with the Hispanic community on sacraments and spiritual life. He is also the Co-Master of Liturgy at the Cathedral. atorres@shcknox.org

Mr. Daniel Breen, Principal

Mr. Breen has nearly 25 years of teaching and administrative experience. Before coming to Sacred Heart, Mr. Breen was Principal at Christ the King Catholic School in Lexington, KY, a 525-student, Blue Ribbon and AdvancED school. In addition to his experience as a Principal, he served as Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Cape Henry Collegiate School in Virginia. Mr. Breen also has extensive classroom experience and coached boys’ basketball for ten years. Mr. Breen holds a BA from Harvard University, MA from the University of Virginia, and EdS (Education Specialist) in Educational Administration and Supervision from Eastern Kentucky University. Learn more in his Statement of Educational Philosophy. dbreen@shcknox.org

Mrs. Lisa Maki, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Maki has been at Sacred Heart 16 years and is certified by the State Department of Education in the Tennessee State Framework for Evaluation and Professional Growth. She holds her degree from Kent State with a dual certification in Special Education in Hearing Impaired and Elementary Education.
