As you browse this web site, it is my sincere hope that you will acquire a strong sense of our culture, unique spirit and mission.
I am pleased to announce that our school theme this year will emphasize stewardship, ministry, and vocations. The scriptural inspiration for this theme can be found in Genesis 2:15, “The Lord God, then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it.” Our religious slogan is derived from Psalm 24:1, ...”The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.”. This theme reminds us that all creation is a gift from God and that He has entrusted each of us to do our part to nourish, tend, and protect so that His creation will flourish. As educators, our task is to cultivate the minds of our students and assist them as they grow and mature so that they can realize their own God-given gifts.
The beautiful canticle of praise found in Daniel 3: 52-82 instructs us to “Let the earth bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever”. I also want to promote vocations and service with our students since our Holy Father has proclaimed this year as the “Year for Priests”. So, we will pray to St. John Marie Vianney’s for his intercession for our priests and for God’s grace to be open to the vocation he has for each of us.
We have been blessed here at SHCS with an incredible faculty and outstanding academic and athletic facilities. I encourage you to visit us and see for yourself our campus and our inviting, welcoming community. The growth that we are experiencing is evidence of our commitment to our mission—a mission that strives to teach the whole child through the Gospel as we prepare students to be Disciples of Christ and to share their God-given gifts and talents with the global community.
Thank you for your interest in Sacred Heart Cathedral School and I look forward to meeting you soon.
