The Sacred Heart Cathedral Preschool Program is accredited by the Tennessee State Department of Education, and operated under the supervision of the Diocese of Knoxville’s Catholic Schools Office. Coming for a visit is the best way to learn about our Catholic preschool! To schedule a visit, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 865.558.4129.
The Preschool is divided into the Infant class, Toddler class, 2-year-old class, 3-year-old class, and two Pre-Kindergarten classes; one for 4-year-olds and another for older 4 and 5-year-olds. Each child experiences a well-planned, child-centered environment that encourages learning through exploration and discovery. Examples of units covered during the year include:
Family | Home | Pets | Fire Safety | Health & Nutrition | Senses | Manners | Emotions
Through these units, many teacher-directed learning activities will take place in math, science, language skills, art, music, dramatic play and story time.
Learning/play centers are also an integral part of the preschoolers learning and social environment. These self-play areas are used to meet various objectives including large and small muscle development, art, reading and imaginative play.
Our religious education program is designed to help young children at the preschool level discover their individual qualities and importance in God’s Creation. The primary focus is to assist children in developing positive self-concepts through awareness that God has made each of them very special. Through the media of stories, songs, finger plays, games, dramatization, lesson-related prayer and sensorial activities, children can sense God’s love for them.
