The 8th-grade Project Based Learning (PBL) driving questions are: What geometrical shapes and numbers of significance are represented in the Cathedral? Explain the reasoning behind the shapes and numbers. Analyze how those shapes or numbers are tied to the Catholic faith.
Mrs. Wilson, Director of Parish Operations, shared with our students the purpose and impact that many geometric shapes and numbers are having in the construction of our new Cathedral. For instance, the sanctuary has 12 pillars inside which symbolize the 12 apostles and the 12 tribes of Israel. Also, the landing area outside the entrance of the Cathedral will have a chevron pattern on the tiles symbolizing the waters used for baptism.
Mrs. Wilson was able to share the direct intentions behind the choices being made by the building committee throughout the construction process allowing our students to better understand the purpose of each geometric shape and the significance of numbers in our new Cathedral.
