In kindergarten, Molly Kalafsky has dual citizenship – American and Australian. Her mother, Mrs. Kalafsky is Australian.
Yesterday, January 26 was “Australia Day”. Mrs. Kalafsky came to our classroom today and along with Molly taught us about Australia and the holiday “Australia Day”.
They brought wonderful visual aids and shared information about: the American and Australian passports, customs of “Australia Day”, the Australian flag, currency, animals, geography, climate, and we enjoyed Australian cookies – Molly’s favorite “Tic Toc” cookies. Molly and her mother also made goody bags for the students with items from Australia.
It was such a great lesson for the kindergarten class and they were so thankful Mrs. Kalafsky was able to come. She and Molly took a lot of time preparing and did a terrific job teaching us!
