Dear Sacred Heart Cathedral School Families,
I pray these past couple of weeks have given you the gift of rest—unhurried mornings, joyful family time, and moments to celebrate the birth of Christ with the people you love most. As our students return tomorrow,
my heart is full of gratitude for this community and for the privilege of beginning another semester together in faith, joy, and hope.
The New Year always brings a sense of renewal, and in our Catholic schools, that renewal is rooted in Christ—“all things are made new” in Him. As we step into the second semester, we look forward not only to continued academic growth, friendships, and service, but to the beautiful liturgical life that shapes us. As we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, move together through the season of Lent, and ultimately rejoice in the glory of Easter, each feast reminds us who we are: God’s beloved sons and daughters.
This semester is also especially meaningful for several of our students who will be receiving Sacraments. Please keep our second graders in your prayers as they continue preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion—what a beautiful step in their life with Christ. Our fifth graders will also grow in grace as they prepare for Confirmation, deepening the gifts of the Holy Spirit and boldly living their faith. These Sacraments are not just milestone events; they are encounters with God’s love, and we are blessed to walk with our students through each one.
Thank you, parents, for entrusting your children to us each day. Thank you for partnering with our teachers and supporting a school rooted in faith, excellence, and Gospel joy. May God bless you and your family throughout 2026 with peace, health, and an abundance of grace. I look forward to all that God will do in our Cathedral School community in the months ahead.
Welcome back, Sacred Heart—let’s have a wonderful semester!
With gratitude and prayer,
Mrs. Valerie Hanks
SHCS Principal
