Sacred Heart Cathedral School is proud to announce an exciting initiative: a House System for our Middle School!
We started a mentorship program one year ago, and our House System is a step in the development of that program. Our 20 mentorship groups are small gatherings of students from grades 6, 7 and 8 which allow the mentor to get to know students well in a smaller setting through prayer, activities and discussion. Those discussions include our lives at school and ways to grow in charity towards one another.
In the House System, each mentorship group is assigned to one of four houses, named for the evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The four pillars of the House System are fun, spirit, community and service. In the larger context of our houses, we will form new friendships and we will find opportunities to engage in acts of service to others.

Our mentorship committee has spent the school year quietly preparing for today’s launch on Student Appreciation Day of CSW. Our students were surprised at our announcement today and happy to get their new t-shirts (made in the colors of the four liturgical seasons)…and happy to hear that they can wear their shirts to school!
Fr. Joe Reed explains the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as SHCS initiates a new House System for middle school students.
