At Eighth Grade Commissioning during all-school Mass this morning, Fr. Joe, reading from the Church’s Book of Blessings, sent our eighth graders forth to be missionaries within our school. The students received a candle that represents the light of Christ that they are then to share with the whole school. (These candles will be used again at the Bridge Ceremony in the spring.) In his homily, Fr. Joe offered King St. Louis, whose feast day we celebrate today, as an example of servant leadership that our eighth grade can strive to follow. Though a monarch, King St. Louis also tended to lepers, fed the poor, and performed great acts of charity.
