In an effort to honor Sacred Heart Cathedral School’s graduating class and to recognize their roles as leaders of the school, Principal Dan Breen has implemented a new–and already highly popular–monthly event, 8th on the 8th. On the eighth day of every month (or a school day close to it) eighth graders are granted an out-of-uniform day. They are permitted to wear anything they want that falls within the clothing guidelines in the student handbook.
“This is to thank you for wearing the uniform in many cases for nine years,” Principal Breen told students at an assembly on September 8th, the first day of the new program.
In addition, the eighth grade room moms are adding to the day’s festivities by providing fun treats for students during their snack break. Last Friday, students enjoyed Tennessee-themed brownies and cookies in honor of UT’s first home football game the next day.
