Dear Sacred Heart Cathedral School Community,
With great joy and deep gratitude, Father David Boettner and I are pleased to share the wonderful news that Mrs. Elayne Monnig has accepted the position of Lead Teacher for our Little Eagles program beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. We are truly blessed by her “yes,” and we recognize once again that God provides—and His will be done.
Many of you already know Mrs. Elayne and the extraordinary gifts she brings to our children. Her connection to Catholic education began in her own childhood as a student at St. Mary’s School in Oak Ridge, and her love for faith-filled learning has remained strong throughout her life. Over the years, she has become an integral part of the Sacred Heart family—as a former SHCS parent, a beloved colleague, and a dedicated educator who understands our mission from the inside out.
Before joining Sacred Heart, Mrs. Elayne spent 15 years teaching in the “Fabulous Fives” program at a local preschool, building a deep foundation in early childhood education. During her ten years at SHCS, she has served in several early childhood roles, including Little Eagles, preschool, and kindergarten, bringing joy, creativity, and a nurturing spirit to every classroom she leads.
Her belief that young children learn best through exploration, curiosity, and hands-on engagement shines through in all she does. Even more importantly, Mrs. Elayne integrates our Catholic faith into daily classroom life with gentleness and sincerity, helping our youngest learners come to know the love of Christ.
As we prepare for the future of our Little Eagles program, we are grateful that Mrs. Elayne will be stepping into this leadership role. In the months ahead, she will begin working closely with our Little Eagles team, led by Mrs. Laura Hudson and Mrs. Alma Bernhold, to support a smooth and grace-filled transition as we look toward the next school year.
Please join Father David and me in congratulating Mrs. Elayne, praying for her, and thanking God for the gift of her continued presence and vocation within our community.
May the Holy Spirit guide her steps and bless all of our Little Eagles today and in the years to come.
In Christ,
Father David Boettner
