Cathedral Moments

The Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus opened on March 3, 2018, making it the newest Cathedral in the United States.  Sacred Heart Cathedral School is so proud to be a part of the history of this incredible worship space, and we are even more proud of how our students worship, learn, and serve here.  Below are some of the special moments that highlight what it means for us to be the Cathedral school.

First All-School Mass – March 5, 2018

Students, faculty, staff, and the entire SHCS school community gathered to celebrate the first all-school mass together in the brand new Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Monday, March 5, 2018, a mere two days after its dedication.


Cardinal Rigali Visits 8th Graders – December 18th, 2018

Cardinal Rigali visited the 8th-grade to talk to them about his experience attending the Second Vatican Council as a young priest in 1962. The students had just finished studying the Councils of the Catholic Church as a part of their course on Church History..


Bishop Stika visits Leadership Class January 29, 2019

It's great to be at the Cathedral! Bishop Stika is a regular visitor to a Leadership Seminar for seventh graders. At his recent visit, His Excellency spoke about many topics in response to student interview questions, including two gifts God has given us (free will and faith), what he learned as a police chaplain, his meetings with Saint Pope John Paul II, and people who influenced his life as he grew up.
