Covid 19 2
SHCS Home Learning Guide (2)

Dear Sacred Heart Family,

As the beginning of the year approaches, we are eager to welcome our students safely back on campus. As always, our commitment to you is to make sound decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of our community while fulfilling our mission to educate the whole child. To achieve this during a pandemic, it’s crucial our plans adapt and change as new information and research become available. To this end, please carefully review the documents linked below. One of them is a revised Re-entry Policies and Procedures from our diocese. We’ve also attached a letter from our Superintendent, Dr. Sedonna Prater, which explains some of the reasoning for the revisions to the plan. A key change in policy worth noting is this:

-Grades 4 and up will wear face masks in the classrooms.

-When appropriate social distancing is maintained, grades 3 and down may wear face shields in the classroom.

-You may request for your child to wear both a face mask and a face shield if you prefer.

After reviewing the re-entry policies, please also see our most recent FAQ for guidance on questions that arose since last week’s email. We also address other pertinent information in the attached kid-friendly back to school video and encourage you to watch it as a family and discuss it.

Here are a few other important dates and updates:

Change to daily schedule – We are making some changes to find ample prep time for our teachers as they will be teaching digitally and in person. One of the measures we’re taking to support them and provide additional prep time in the schedule is to end our school day 15 minutes earlier. This year, the first dismissal will be at 2:45, and the second dismissal will be at 3:15. We realize the inconvenience this may present to some of our families and want to partner with you. Club Eagle is still available for those who need it.

Virtual learning – Several of you have inquired about our virtual learning plan. We’ve linked an overview document as well as points for consideration as you weigh your decision. We’ve extended the deadline and are asking families who are interested to notify us by next Wednesday morning, July 29th. I want to thank our teacher virtual learning committee for the many hours spent collaborated as we’ve designed this plan.

Back to School Bash/Supply Drop-off – We’ve re-designed this event as a fun drive-through. Please see the attached flyer for more details. Families with the last name A-M will drop off their supplies between 11 AM and 3 PM on Saturday, August 1st. Last names N-Z will drop off supplies between 3 PM-7 PM on Sunday, August 2nd.  Please label your child’s supplies by name and grade. We look forward to seeing you then!

Lastly, I’ve been struck this week by how much our teachers love their students and are dedicated to the mission of this special school. Encouragement, prayers offered on their behalf, and positive messages mean a lot for our teachers as they prepare for the upcoming school year. As you pray for our teachers, please know that we pray for your students often and can’t wait to see them on campus. God bless you and Go Eagles!

Grace and peace,

Jake Rodgers
